HAVE YOU WONDERED...
WHY SO MANY STUDENTS KEEP STRUGGLING WITH INVERTS?
Maybe you've noticed, but not all of your students are killing it. Perhaps you've seen students do these things in your classes:
- jump & throw their heads back hoping to get upsidedown on a wish and a 🙏
- hold their breath, like that could possibly help
- put in a ton of piss-poor conditioning reps in open gym so they're exhausted when they show up to your class
- compare themselves to everyone else in class even though they all have way different challenges
- feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of different drills they think they should be doing between classes (so they do nothing at all)
- are convinced that there is only one correct way to do an invert (and that's the way it looks when YOU demo it)
Ooof! 😣
The inversion is a complicated movement that is NOT one-sized-fits-all. Students come into classes with different movement histories that require different techniques, cues, and conditioning drills. It's HARD to manage in a classroom environment.
That's where the INVERSION CONVERSION METHOD comes in. You'll leave this immersion with strategies to help ALL of your students PROGRESS at their own speeds.
Speaking of progress...
HAVE YOU ALSO WONDERED...
WHY SO MANY AERIAL INSTRUCTORS DON'T HAVE THE SKILLS TO HELP THEIR STUDENTS PROGRESS?
Think back to your own journey from obsessed enthusiast to boss aerial coach. Perhaps you had been training a lot and one day the studio asked you to cover a class. Maybe your instructor recommended you for an opening because you have the rizz. Possibly you even signed up for an aerial teacher certification weekend.
However it all started, you probably began teaching before you really understood:
- the physics of aerial & how that affects different bodies differently
- how to judge if students are ready for certain skills
- why you are teaching the drills you are teaching
- how to help students progress outside of your classes
- how to address smart student questions and concerns
And this leads to students:
- feeling not supported due to their coaches' lack of knowledge
- being injured by well-intentioned instructors
- believe that aerial isn't for them 😢
That's why I created the INVERSION CONVERSION METHOD, to give instructors more tools and support to help their students fall in love with aerial just like we did.

The inversion is arguably the most important skill your students will master. Why not treat it with the care that it deserves by learning the...
INVERSION CONVERSION™ METHOD
In this virtual certification course, become a veritable inversion detective and coach your students through enviable inverts that will have them head over heels for the fundamentals.
WHY YOU NEED THIS CERTIFICATION NOW.
- You Don't Want to F*ck Up Your Students – If your students don't get their inverts, they will be stuck in beginner classes forever. The better you are at progressing students through this skill, the more successful you will be as a coach. Full stop.
- Build Trust with Students – Your students WANT to trust you. But it's hard to do if every session feels like they're beating their heads against a wall and you don't have any answers. By guiding them through buttery-smooth inverts tailored to the peculiarities and whims of their bodies, you'll create an environment where they feel safe, supported, and motivated to keep pushing for harder skills.
- Get Recognized as an Expert – With evidence-based techniques rooted in the latest research on breath, nervous system, fascia, and biomechanics in your toolkit, you'll become a respected authority on inverts in your local aerial community.
- Become More Marketable & Insurable – This is why this is a certification and not just a course. A certification tells potential employers and insurance companies that they should invest in you because you have invested in your growth as an aerial coach.
- Retain & Attract More Students – Stop losing students who are frustrated by not surpassing this milestone in their training. Get more private lessons and workshop opportunities when clients realize you know your shit.
After completing the ICM certification, you’ll get better results for your students and more opportunities to shine!

WHAT WE COVER.
I break the course into 4 learning modules...
MODULE 1: INVERT ANALYSIS
PHASES & PLANES
Learn how to break down the inversion into its phases of movement. Understand the strength and mobility requirements of the movement in general.
This section includes:
- A breakdown of the phases of movement in the bent- and straight-arm inversions, including the muscles and coordination involved in each phases.
- A discussion of the physics of the movement and how to effect load by changing invert mechanics.
After this section, you'll know how the invert works, which muscles are working, and how to make things easier for different bodies.

MODULE 2: STUDENT ASSESSMENT
PROFILES & PURPOSE
Now that you understand what the move entails, I’ll explain how to assess a client to see how they stack up to generic requirements.
This module includes:
- Questions to ask in your intake process to establish a client's goals, constraints, training age and history.
- Postural, breathing, & mobility assessments specific to the bent- and straight-arm inversions.
- Movement testing on the apparatus to help inform your exercise selection.
After this section, you’ll have a clearer sense of your student's background, what is holding them back, and what to target in your coaching to get them the best results.
MODULE 3: WARMING UP
PRIMING & PREP
In this session, we'll look at movement preparation activities for classes and private lessons, to bring about greater body awareness, proprioception, control, and coordination.
This includes exercises for:
- Breathing, which will improve core control and pelvic floor function.
- Setting the scapula on the ribcage and disassociating it from the thoracic spine.
- Stabilizing the pelvis in various positions, including leg lifts.
After this module, you’ll be to coach students through a warm up that will prepare them for any training session, as well as function as a movement screen, while reaping dividends in the invert.

MODULE 4: INTEGRATION
PLANS & PROGRESS
In this final module, we'll look at progressions for the different types of students that you will encounter, as well as how to lesson plan to integrate this work into multiple training sessions or a class series.
This section includes:
- A discussion of periodization and training variables like volume, frequency, and intensity.
- Ground-based educative drills.
- In-air exercises for various levels and aerial apparatuses and how to progress them.
- How to monitor student progress to make informed choices about the effectiveness of your training strategy.
By the end of this piece, you'll have all of the tools you need to craft a smart invert plan and monitor its effects.

"It is possible to work towards goals of any size once you have programming . . . that breaks the goal into the bite-sized pieces. . . . It makes a huge difference to have someone as knowledgeable and caring as Jessica take a look at your training. "
____ Jessica DuRousseau, Straps Artist

HI, I'M JESSICA!

I stumbled upon aerial as an adult, and I was hooked from my first aerial silks class. But a series of injuries early in my journey led me to investigate a better way of both preparing the body for circus work.
As I dove deeper into my aerial and mobility practices, I also became a Gyrotonic and a Gyrokinesis trainer, spending thousands of hours studying with master trainers and working with clients in a rehabilitative setting.
I found mentors in human movement and performance, learning breathwork and somatics. I now work with aerialists across the globe to level up their skills and increase their longevity though my signature methodologies.
Whether you’re new to aerial coaching or you simply want to add some new coaching skills to your repertoire, I look forward to taking this journey together.

"When I worked with Jessica to get my straight-arm inversions, I learned new ways to practice the timing of my breath in connection with the movement of my inversion. Her knowledge of breathing assessment and exercises helped me achieve my goal and get me interested in learning all I can about breathwork."
