"I learned so much [from Jessica] about how I want to coach in the future."
-Frieda Austin, aerial silks coach
You probably didn't set out to coach aerial as a career.Â
Â
Odds are you didn't show up to college and ask which classes you should take to teach pole. đ
Â
Instead, if you're anything like me:
- You got ob-sessed with doing aerial or pole and before you knew it you wanted to learn as much as possible, staying up late at night binging Instagram video
- You went from excelling in your classes skill-wise to getting invited to sub, realizing that being good at something doesn't mean you know how to teach it
- Before you knew it, you were teaching in your own classes, and now here you are wondering if you have the rights skills to do this really well
In other words, you actually want to see your students succeed and love aerial or pole as much as I do.
But what you've learned in teacher training alone doesn't cut it when someone doesn't resonate to your cues. It doesn't cover the difference between teaching a skill and HOW to actually coach an individual through their unique experience learning that skill.
Â
đ„ So where should you start? đ„
Â
Introducing COACH ON FIRE, a FREE LIVE 1-HOUR training for aerial and pole instructors who need a cheat sheet on the most important skills all coaches need to relate with and support their students at all levels.Â

What are you waiting for? We've got a lot to cover and limited space in this training. Sign up now!
Hi, I'm your coach, Jessica Johnđđ»
Â
I didn't start out knowing all of the answers (in fact, I still don't), and you're not expected to either. I'm a learning junkie, and I stumbled upon circus as an adult. I was hooked from my first aerial silks class. At that time, I was a leadership analyst at the CIA (đŹ) with a weird hobby. Slowly but surely I allowed that weird hobby to take over my life. I became an aerialist and eventually a master coach to aerial and pole teachers across the globe.
My coaching philosophy is:
- evidence-based and whole-person centered, addressing technical, strength, mobility, mindset, and psychosocial challengesÂ
- focused on helping coaches improve their teaching of foundational aerial technique, because I believe it opens pathways to creative potential
- passionate about coaching coaches to see the power they have to create a more inclusive and impactful aerial culture that inspires autonomy, risk-taking, and mastery
You're here because you love your students and you want to help them reach their aerial and pole dream skills. Well, you're in the right place. I want that for you too.
