YOU CAN EXPECT
5 DAYS OF TRAINING
We'll meet each day for at least 4 hours of training at Central Oregon Aerial Arts. Sessions will be driven by interest and facilitated by Parish coaches or attendees.
DELICIOUS DINNERS & FUN EXCURSIONS
You will have the opportunity to meet up with the squad at local restaurants each evening. There will be low-cost optional adventures, including a star-lit canoeing trip, a river float, photos in the desert, and a half-day hike through lava fields to my favorite swimming hole (the last day following the meeting)!
DIY LODGING & TRANSPORT
Here's your chance to do a retreat on the cheap or to go all out an stay in style. At the Parish Meeting, you get to do it your way. Stay with new friends in a local AirBnB or get your own quiet space to decompress. The closest airport is Redmond Municipal (15 miles from Bend) and we can coordinate travel as the date gets closer.
A "meeting" not a "retreat"
The Parish Meeting concept arose from my experiences at the Rope Meeting in Barcelona throughout the 2010s. There rope artists shared, jammed, and explored. There was curiosity instead of coaching. Everyone learned from everyone.
Sometimes a person would rig a trapeze or straps, and you could see the ideas from rope carrying over to that new apparatus. I wanted to harness that love for cross-apparatus exploration and create a meeting where multi-disciplinary experimentation is the norm.
This is not a retreat. The experimental aerial meeting gives you the opportunity to train with aerialists from across the globe and try out new apparatuses, styles, and approaches that can't be found anywhere else.
There are no pre-requisites or levels for the meeting, only an ability to self-direct your own training (and not rely on others to tell you what to do) as well as to contribute to an environment of collaboration. You will be asked to prepare some of your own work (as an artist, coach, or enthusiast) to bring with you to share with the group.
If you have been longing to dive deeper into your movement practice and play with likeminded aerialists without judgment in a beautiful location, this is the meeting for you.
